About the Museum's Operations

The Museum of the Holocaust in Sweden is one of Sweden's newest museums. The museum focuses on testimonies from survivors of the Holocaust, a specific part of Sweden's cultural heritage. We strive to be a place characterized by care, responsibility, and openness, where people want to return and visit us multiple times.

For us, active hosting and reception are prioritized and something our visitors greatly value. The role includes giving tours and answering questions from visitors about the museum's area of operations and our collection mission. Therefore, it is important that you have, or acquire, knowledge about the entire museum's operations and can represent the organization well.

As a museum host at the Museum of the Holocaust in Sweden, you have a central role in meeting visitors. In a new and inspiring work environment, you embody hospitality and, together with your colleagues in the team, you are the face of the museum.

As a seasonal employee, you will lead public tours of our exhibitions and work at the entrance and shop. You will work alongside other permanent staff and security personnel. You will answer questions about the exhibition and the museum's digital resources, about the history of the Holocaust in general, and inform about the operations and our partners.

You will handle cash and statistics and actively work with shop sales. You will also conduct visitor surveys and may assist with additional administrative tasks related to various parts of the museum's ongoing operations, including work with social media. Additionally, you will conduct rounds in the museum's premises to ensure that everything is tidy, informative, and safe.

The work is varied and involves meeting visitors in both Swedish and English. As a museum host, you also have an active role in the museum's evacuation organization.

Working hours are according to a fixed schedule covering weekdays, evenings, and weekends.

Qualifications

  • Experience in hosting and conducting guided tours or teaching.
  • Experience in cash handling, shop presentation, and managing visitor surveys.
  • Good knowledge of Swedish and English, and preferably a third language.
  • Desirable: Education in history or equivalent.

Personal Qualities

We place great importance on your personal qualities, judgment, and previous experience in similar tasks. Good references from previous employers are important.

You are passionate about knowledge sharing and service and have a strong ability to put our visitors first. You show great commitment and are eager to take initiative to solve issues that arise. You also have a good ability to listen, see each visitor, and understand the importance of welcoming hospitality.

Your ability to collaborate is strong, and you are happy to assist with various practical tasks. Under pressure, stress, and in tough situations, you act to ensure the team supports each other. You handle problems and use new experiences to improve preparedness and routines together with colleagues.
